Joining us for an interview is the fantastic D Five.
Hi, how are you?
I’m a blessed man, glad to have finally released my debut.
So, how did you get into music?
My language arts teacher Mr Wallace gave the class an extra credit assignment back in 6th grade. It was to write a rap and spit it to the class. I’ve been writing ever since. I did horribly by the way haha.
How did ‘Heaven, Hell, and Hip Hop’ come about?
I was at a time in my life where I wanted to rap about things that mattered, but everyone was listening to trap music. So at first, it was about combing conscious rap with trap. Then it just blossomed into life and the world we live in today, it just wasn’t about the music anymore.
What were the challenges of making ‘Heaven, Hell, and Hip Hop’?
I believe the biggest challenge in creating the album was just trying to make a perfect playlist that was unskippable. I’m not sure if that exists, no matter what genre of music it is. Another challenge was trying to find the order in which to put the songs in. I think I made the right choice though.
What are your plans for 2019?
My plan is mainly to just promote my brand. Get more buzz. I’ll be releasing music videos, merch, and of course, more music. I’m excited for that.
