Joining us for an interview is the fantastic D-CYPL.
Hi, how are you?
I’m good bruh. Another day to be alive.
So, how did you get into music?
Well, I would listen to my Moms music when I was a little kid. I would say about 4 or 5 years old. I got in to hip hop when I was about 8 or nine when my cousin Jessi showed me some stuff. And I’ve been rhymin since I was about 14, 15 years old. Initially I was goin to be a part of a duo. My brotha Lloyd and I. I was gonna be the artist and he was going to produce me. Of course when that didn’t happen I eventually realized I was going to have to produce myself.
How did ‘For The Cause’ come about?
Well, I’ve done more than a few projects for Mindless Sound Records. I actually started working for them when they were HardKandy Records. And I was working on a mixtape for to release this year before we release a top-secret Hip Hop album. I was working on all of these singles first than I was going to work on the other parts of this mixtape. But I took a little longer than I had anticipated. December at my job gets really hectic so I knew I wouldn’t have any time before the new year to finish. So I just said to Brother Noyze why not just release an EP of nothing but singles and bangas. He thought it was a good idea.
What were the challenges of making ‘For The Cause’?
Really, just time restraints. As I discussed it was going to be a mixtape. I had been working on some of these songs for a few years along with other new stuff. I was actually working in a lot of things at the same time and still am. So, it was really nothing to just go to the studio and record these few songs. But just cause of the time I couldn’t do a mixtape just yet but it’s coming soon along with a solo album.
What are your goals for 2019?
Releasing the Group album with Juzt Jules , Brother Noyze The Mad Musician and Lyrical Justifier and As I said a mixtape and a solo album. And just making music and having a good time doing it.
